FPVS VANE SEPARATORS ARE THE BEST SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM OF SEPARATION OF LIQUID PARTICLES FROM GAS OR VAPOUR MIST.

VANE SEPARATORS OFFER THE FOLLOWING ADVANTAGES :

  • Extremely efficient separation of entrained Liquid and Mists from a gas or vapour flow.
  • Superior entrained droplet removal at velocities well above demisters.
  • Very Low Pressure Drops
  • Rugged construction / Maintenance free.
  • 100% Removal of Liquid Particles 8.0 Microns and Larger.
DESIGN & PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The FP separator vane bundle which forms the heart of the vane separator employs the principle of centrifugal force, impingement & gravity. The liquid laden gas entering the vane separator is a mixture of low density gas and high density liquid . As this mixture passes through the vane bundle, it is forced to change direction several times. The high density liquid is unable to change direction without impinging on liquid walls, while the low density gas can easily negotiate the tortuous path. At each change in direction a centrifugal force is imparted on the gas liquid mixture which throws the liquid particles against the wetted vane walls. These liquid droplet coalesce into larger particles and absorb other droplets striking the vane. The liquid converts to a sheet flow and travels towards the vane pockets. Once the liquid enters the vane pockets they are trapped & isolated from the gas stream and drained down into the liquid sump by gravity. Since droplets do not have to disengage in the gas flow (counter -current flow ), the liquid draining capacity is higher , without risk of re-entrainment.

FPVS SERIES VANE SEPARATORS

ADVANTAGES
  • Shielded pocket traps and protects the draining liquid from re-entrainment and offers higher efficiency of separation
  • Vane profile design provides more laminar flow with lower turbulence.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
  • Removal of condensed water and lube oil in air compressor lines.
  • Removal of condensate and lube oil in steam and exhast line
  • Removal of condensate lube oil and moisture after gas compressor and compressor after coolers
  • Removal of amines and absorption oil from natural gas
  • Removal & recovery of glycol downstream of glycol contractors.
EFFICIENCY
  • FP vane separators will remove 100% of all liquid particles 8.0 micron & larger when operating between 0-110% of design flow rate Separation efficiency can be improved to 100% of all particles >3.0 micron by the addition of an inlet coalescer. The coalescer can be a SS wire mesh pad mounted on the vane face.
EFFICIENCY & CAPACITY GRAPHS :
VANE PROFILE PARK CONFIGURATIONS
VS – 5 Vanes are available as easy to handle framed modules with an integrated sump. The VS -5 profile packs come in the configurations shown below. Selection depends on cost versus efficiency consideration.
VS – 5 / 2 with two phase separating chambers is the most economical and offers the lowest pressure drop. VS – 5 / 3 with three phase separating chambers, for most application offers the best balance of features and is the standard profile used. VS – 5 / 4 with four phase separation chambers, offers the highest separation efficiency.
VANE PROFILE PARK CONFIGURATIONS
  1. Designed and fabricated in accordance with ASME Code section VII, Div. 1-2001
  2. Separation vanes available in carbon steel, 304L & 316L Stainless Steel Optional alloys on request.
  3. Vessel support can be skirt / base, angle legs, support lugs as required.
  4. Special material configuration and higher design pressures are available on request.
